On Sunday, Oct. 30, 20 middle-school students who took part in this year’s Reach the Runway program gathered at Washington Place, along with their families, mentors, sponsors and other supporters, for a graduation celebration. The program, which is the nonprofit arm of HONOLULU Fashion Week, connects middle schoolers with mentors in the fields of journalism, magazine design, fashion design, hair and makeup, photography, styling and modeling. During eight biweekly sessions, which began in July, the students completed various projects related to their fields of interest and produced three amazing magazine covers.

The program’s ultimate mission is to encourage students who have an interest in fashion or the creative arts to pursue their dreams, and give them the confidence to find their own place in the local fashion community.

Congratulations to all!
