We first introduced you to Asaf Ganot, talented New York fashion designer and twin brother of UH Mānoa coach Eran Ganot, in our September issue. Now, with his HONOLULU Fashion Week runway show just a few days away, we sat down with Asaf for the inside scoop on what he’ll be sending down the catwalk.

1. Fresh takes on leather
Ganot translated different iterations of the luxe material; classic leather, suede and shearling, into several sleek silhouettes, including biker jackets, trench coats and pants. True to form, the designer pushed the leathers to new limits, using innovative distressing treatments to create new textures and weights.

2. Beautiful embossing
Keep an eye out for fine finishes, including croc-embossing on several of the aforementioned leather pieces. If you look closely, you’ll see where Ganot played with different scales of the croc patterns.

3. The first Asaf Ganot womenswear collection
HONOLULU Fashion Week 2016 will mark the debut of the first Asaf Ganot women’s collection. The designer will showcase 15 womenswear looks that echo the vibe of his men’s pieces—sexy and effortlessly cool, with a masculine touch.

4. Lace with an edge
Watch for the Ganot twist on this classic feminine fabric. The designer developed his own special Japanese lace which he used as a counterbalance to all the leather in the collection. Several pieces, including Ganot’s favorite, a leather-lace moto jacket, even incorporate both.

5. The first Asaf Ganot dress
Ganot wouldn’t give away too much about this piece, except that it’s a hybrid of lace, leather, string and straps. As it’s the first-ever dress in his line, we’re guessing it’s going to be a showstopper.

Asaf Ganot’s HONOLULU Fashion Week 2016 runway show takes place Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016 at 6 p.m. at the Hawai‘i Convention Center. For tickets and details, visit honolulufashionweek.com.
